The Stand: New York City’s Dance Marathon: What I’m doing and how you can help

You already probably know that there are two things I like most: mountains of data, and throwing down on the dance floor. My dream jam will be coming to full fruition on October 17th, when New York City’s The Stand is happening for its 3rd consecutive year.

As the Dancer Relations Director of The Stand, I’ve had the great pleasure of working with the Morale Committee and the Executive Committee, as well as the Data Team, whose work has resulted in a economics paper which is currently in revision.

In this capacity, I’ve been involved with everything from helping with games we are going to play with the families at the big event, recruiting dancers at local alumni bars, learning the line dance, understanding donor behaviors, and directing communication efforts.

The Stand is wonderful cause for many reasons, not the least of which is the families we support. With great honor I’m proud to say our efforts have raised over $100k for three children’s hospitals in the NYC area over the last two years. This year we are seeking to raise $75k for our families.

This is my ninth dance marathon I’ve been a part of — and the most involved I’ve been (to date) — and I could not be more excited. I encourage everyone to either sign up and join the big event, or consider supporting my fundraising efforts.
